MY SPECIAL OFFER TO SERVE YOU IN ANOTHER CAPACITY: WOULD YOU KINDLY LISTEN AND ACCEPT MY SPECIAL OFFER?

IN THE BEGINNING
My Social Conscience began to find expression at age 18 when my first protest article, ‘Soldiers Molest Us’ was published on June 10, 1988. I later began full pupilage under my dear uncle, Chief Gani Fawehinmi same year when I relocated from my home town to live with him in Lagos…I worked closely with him as his right-hand man, attending court proceedings, protests, rallies, meetings, conferences and even taking his notes. I have since then worked actively within the Organized Social Sector(NGOs, CBOs, FBOs Social Enterprises etc.) till this day…

STUDENTS’ UNIONISM
I got involved in the Students’ Union politics, where I was a Director of Welfare, attempted the presidency of my local union, LASUSUG and the National Association of Nigerian Students(NANS)…I traversed the length and breadth of this great nation as Students Union leader and National Mobilization Officer of the NANS, in most cases under life-threatening circumstances…My Students’ Union activism earned me the name Stand Well Well and my union awarded me Unionist of the Year and Distinguished Unionist Awards…

PARTICIPATION IN MAJOR NATIONAL CAUSES
I participated in major struggles for the restoration of democracy like ‘Babangida Must Go,’ ‘June 12,’ ‘Abacha Must Go’ etc…

COMMITMENT TO PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT AND CONTRIBUTIONS TO NATIONAL DISCOURSE
I also devoured in a ferocious manner literatures and other materials on social change from many generations and climes, deliberately, building my capacities, contents and social conscience…Since June 10 when my first article was published, I have penned hundreds of articles and appeared on countless programs on the electronic media giving distinct expression to my social conscience and sharing my thoughts on how to employ our collective social conscience to achieve an active PUBLIC WILL, which goal is to achieve the COMMON GOOD…

INTERNATIONAL EXPOSURE
Since 2005, I began to work with international Organized Social Work Institutions like UNICEF, the British Council, USAIDS, UNFPA, SOS Villages etc.The organizations, particularly UNICEF have also invested heavily in my personal development…

UNDERSTANDING THE WORKINGS OF GOVERNMENTS AND THEIR AGENCIES
My working with the foregoing organizations also afforded me the opportunity to work with their government partners, the ministries and agencies under them. Working with government, it’s agencies and functionaries gives me the opportunity to see and understand the unique role this sector plays in the sharpening and operations of the the Organized Social Sector, otherwise known as the Civil Society…

EXPOSURE TO INTERNATIONAL BEST PRACTICES
My exposure at level of working with these international organizations also opened my eyes to best practices internationally, which has eluded many of us here and sadly dwindled the possibility of our successes and impact…

RESULT-ORIENTED PERSONAL SOCIAL INTERVENTION
I have in the last 18 years run successful social intervention campaigns with measurable and verifiable results…

BRAND MARKS OF MY INVOLVEMENT
My involvement in the Organized Social Sector has also come with notable backlashes and yielded results. I have fought an expulsion and had to read law in Lagos State University through court injunction…In 1993, I have spent 9 days in 3 detention camps, namely, Directorate of Military Intelligence (DMI), State Security Service(SSS) and Alagbon Close, charged with incitement, punishable by death for active participation in the June 12 Struggle…I have escaped death a couple of times and in one or two cases, very narrowly…

ENORMOUS BENEFITS
The benefits of my multi-level experiences in the Organized Social Sector are enormous…I have learnt and practiced how to MOBILIZE the collective social conscience of individuals and groups of people and ACTIVATE the PUBLIC WILL in the direction of an identified noble cause…I understand from diverse perspectives how the Organized Social Sector works in this clime…I understand the pitfalls and the high points…Above all I understand most distinctively the terrain in which we operate in the Organized Social Sector…By terrain here, I refer to the Third World, particularly the African continent…I understand why the environment often emasculate our most noble social desires and I have tested answers to how to maneuver same to the advantage of our social yearnings, hopes and aspirations…Above all, my experiences are crowned with my professional standing and disposition that the law is an instrument of social change…This is an ideology, I have proved in the last 18 years…

I AM EAGER TO SERVE…EAGER TO SHARE
I  am eager to share with the Organized Social Sector(NGOs, CBOs, FBOs Social Enterprises etc.) practitioners my wealth of experiences on how to translate our SOCIAL DESIRES into SOCIAL INTERVENTIONS and SOCIAL INTERVENTIONS into ENDURING and MEASURABLE SOCIAL IMPACT, transforming our dear nation, one effort at a time…one community at a time…
