PART F: #CAMA2020: PRESS CONFERENCE/WEBINAR slated for Saturday, September 12, 2020, 7.00PM (WAT)

The Company and Allied Matters Act(CAMA) 2020 was recently repromulgated.

Having carefully read the provisions of the Part F of the law, it is my professional opinion that apart from the fact that the provisions are full of booby traps for associations registered with the commission, I do verily believe that most of them offend the spirit and letters of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria(as amended), particularly Chapter 4, which among other provisions guarantees the Fundamental Human Rights of the Nigerian people to Freedom of Association.

I have carefully listened to the argument of different lawyers and stakeholders, who support the provisions and debated few of them at different fora.

As a follow up to my piece, published on my blog on August 30, 2020 and The Punch Newspaper of Tuesday, September 9, 2020, on the 12th of September, 2020, I will be hosting a Webinar/Press Conference to further discuss the provisions of Part F from a broad legal and socio-political points of view, addressing all objections and fears.
