Did My God Report Me to You? My Unforgettable Encounter with the Manipulations of a So-Called Prophet

Did My God Report Me to You? My Unforgettable Encounter with the Manipulations of a So-Called Prophet
He called out of nowhere. Probably got my number from social media.
He introduced himself as a Prophet. My antenna went up immediately. Ordinarily, I would have ended the call right there. But this time, I decided to engage him, for the possible salvation of his own soul.
Because, to be honest, for anyone to think they can call a complete stranger and attempt to manipulate or intimidate them in the name of “prophecy,” that soul must already be in crisis.
So I engaged him headlong.
Here is our conversation
Christ Has Already Prayed for Me
He began, “Brother, the Lord asked me to intercede for you.”
I replied, “The Lord has already prayed for me. He prayed for me before I was born, died for me before I sinned, and still intercedes for me every day.”
“I pray for them. I do not pray for the world but for those whom You have given Me.” John 17:9
“Christ Jesus… is at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us.” Romans 8:34
“He always lives to make intercession for them.” Hebrews 7:25
I added, “Sir, I also pray for myself. My destiny is in my mouth under God. The power of life and death is in the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit (Proverbs 18:21). So, I don’t need another unsolicited intercessor, the One who died for me is still praying for me.”
He pressed further, “So, you don’t believe in the prayer of agreement?”
I said, “You just said it yourself, prayer of agreement. Can two walk together unless they agree? (Amos 3:3). Did I invite you? Did I agree with you? Without agreement, your prayer has no standing.”
He was silent. Then I continued, “Prayer of agreement isn’t about making God act; it’s about strengthening our faith together. Everything God will do, He has already done. Faith isn’t to get God to move, it’s to build our character so we can walk into what He’s already provided. Hebrews 11 tells us that those who lived by faith didn’t use it for shortcuts; they used it to endure and finish well.”
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ.” Ephesians 1:3
“So why,” I asked him, “should I beg God for what He has already given? Every promise in the New Testament is written in the past tense, finished on the Cross and sealed by the Resurrection. I am already blessed, signed, sealed, and delivered.”
Dominion and Personal Authority
He warned, “There are people close to you, like the veins of your neck, who want to bring you down.”
I replied, “No one can bring me down. God gave man dominion over all His works, except another human being.” ‘Let Us make man in Our image… let them have dominion.’ Genesis 1:26 ‘You have made him to have dominion over the works of Your hands.’ Psalm 8:6 ‘Your life is hidden with Christ in God.’ Colossians 3:3
I said to him, “For anyone, spiritual or temporal to have power over me, I must first submit to them. Without my consent, they have no authority. That’s why Scripture says, ‘To whom you present yourselves as slaves to obey, you are that one’s slaves.’ Romans 6:16
“The greatest power ever given to man is dominion and it was never dominion over another human being, but over the works of God’s hands. So tell me, where will anyone find power over me that heaven never gave?”
I added, “My real enemies and friends are within me, my beliefs, my thoughts, my perceptions. If I believe the world is against me, then it will be. If I believe it is for me, then it is.”
Then I asked him, “Let’s assume, without conceding, that these people truly have power. What’s the worst they can do? Kill me? The Bible says, ‘To live is Christ and to die is gain.’ (Philippians 1:21). I cannot fear gain. Death, for a believer, is not defeat; it is homecoming. Staying here is fruitful labor; leaving is eternal rest. Either way, I win.”
Breakthrough vs. Build-Up
He asked, “Don’t you need a breakthrough?”
I laughed. “Show me one person in Scripture who had overnight success. I don’t believe in breakthroughs; I believe in build-ups.”
The Bible says, “Those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.” Hebrews 6:12
And again, “By your patience possess your souls.” Luke 21:19
“When the clouds are full, they empty themselves upon the earth.” Ecclesiastes 11:3
That’s the principle. Heaven doesn’t drop sudden blessings; it fills a vessel until it overflows.
Even Paul said, “I labored more abundantly than they all.” 1 Corinthians 15:10
There is grace, yes, but never shortcuts. God works through the divine order He has established and revealed in His Word. “The race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, but time and chance happen to them all.” Ecclesiastes 9:11
Yes, there is time and chance but how will you recognize your time or seize your chance if you’re not making consistent, informed, and strategic effort?
Faith doesn’t erase uncertainty; it strengthens us to walk through it. We live in an imperfect world, faith is for endurance, not escapism.
So I told him, “Stop harassing people with the illusion of sudden miracles. God builds; He doesn’t gamble.”
“Precept must be upon precept, line upon line.” Isaiah 28:10
The True Office of the Prophet
He said, “You don’t respect the office of the prophet.”
I said, “I do. But the Bible tells us what prophets, pastors, and apostles are for not to terrorize believers, but to build them up.”
“He gave some to be apostles, some prophets… for the equipping of the saints, for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ.” Ephesians 4:11–12 “He who prophesies speaks edification, exhortation, and comfort to men.” 1 Corinthians 14:3
A true prophet strengthens; a false one frightens. He asked, “So, you don’t believe in prophetic predictions?”
I said, “Not the kind that terrify people. The Holy Spirit never speaks without solution. The testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy (Revelation 19:10). If a so-called prophecy ends in fear, it’s not from God. God’s voice carries peace, not panic.”
I told him, “Any ‘revelation’ that leaves you anxious instead of anchored is not divine. it’s demonic. When God reveals, He redeems.”
Goodness and Mercy Already Follow Me
He asked, “So you don’t go for special destiny programs or prayer campaigns?”
I said, “I’ve been a Christian since February 16, 1997, not once have I run from pillar to post for a ‘special program.’ Even when my mother suffered a stroke and people urged us to visit prayer mountains, I refused. We prayed at home, standing on God’s Word: ‘He Himself took our infirmities and bore our sicknesses.’ (Matthew 8:17)
Though we eventually lost her at 67, that did not make God unfaithful. She finished her race. Faith does not deny reality; it rests in God’s sovereignty.”
Then I told him, “My life is already scripted: ‘I come in the volume of the book written of me.’ (Psalm 40:7) My destiny doesn’t depend on my perfection, it depends on His finished work. It’s a perfect God working through an imperfect man.”
So I said, “No, I don’t chase what follows me. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life. (Psalm 23:6)” ‘Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed; His compassions fail not. They are new every morning.’ Lamentations 3:22–23
I go to church for fellowship, growth, and edification, not superstition.
Every Moment Is My Appointed Time
He said, “What about your appointed time?”
I replied, “Every moment is my appointed time. “This is the day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.” Psalm 118:24
“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God.” Romans 8:28
God doesn’t miss appointments. His timing is eternal.
No Other Mediator
He said, “Don’t you want someone to hear God for you?”
I said, “No. God speaks to me through His Word, not through middlemen.”
“God, who at various times… spoke in time past… has in these last days spoken to us by His Son.” Hebrews 1:1–2
“For there is one God and one Mediator between God and mankind, the Man Christ Jesus.” 1 Timothy 2:5
I told him, “Christ is enough. You’re not another mediator.
The Holy Spirit Never Left
He said, “We need revival.”
I asked, “Did the Holy Spirit travel somewhere?”
He mentioned the Azusa Street revival and others like it. I replied, “The Architect of every true revival is the Holy Spirit and He never left.
Jesus said, ‘I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Comforter, that He may abide with you forever.’ (John 14:16)
On the Day of Pentecost, the Spirit came and He didn’t come with a return ticket. He abides with us till the end of the age.”
So I told him, “We don’t need to beg God to send revival. The Spirit has already been poured out. What we call revival is not God returning; it’s man realigning.”
‘They were all filled with the Holy Spirit.’ Acts 2:4
‘Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.’ Hebrews 13:8
The Holy Spirit never departed. It is not Heaven that needs to move, it is we who must wake up to what has always been available.
God Heals People, Not Nations
Then he said, “So, you don’t believe Nigeria needs revival?”
I smiled. “Bàbá jọ̀ nà, ẹ̀ bẹ̀rẹ̀ irungbọn?” A bearded man is consumed by fire, and you’re asking for his beards? I just told you what I believe about revival, and you’re asking again? Are you winding me, sir?”
He pressed on, quoting, “If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves and pray… I will heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14
I said, “Yes, I know that Scripture. But understand this, in the New Testament, God does not heal nations; He heals people. Jesus didn’t die for geopolitical entities; He died for souls.”
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16
Here’s the breakdown: God loved the world, that’s the motive. Because of His love for the world, He gave His Son, that’s the method. But He gave the Son to people, ‘whoever believes.’ So it is through healed people that God heals nations. Everlasting life begins here, and its evidence is transformation.
God heals individuals. And when healed people walk in truth, nations are transformed. The divine order is clear: redeemed people redeem systems; transformed hearts transform societies.
So when someone claims to have “been visited by God” yet still cries for national revival without personal renewal, the visitation is suspect. God changes people to change nations.
Imperfection and Humanity
He tried another angle: “Don’t you think something is wrong with your faith?”
I said, “Nothing is wrong with my faith; I’m simply human.” Even Paul, the great apostle, admitted, ‘There was given to me a thorn in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to buffet me.’ (2 Corinthians 12:7)
As Jack Hayford said, ‘We are receiving an unshakable Kingdom in a shakable world.’ Everything around us will shake, but the only place peace is promised is within. Jesus said, ‘My peace I give to you, not as the world gives.’ (John 14:27)
So I told him, “I don’t measure my faith by what happens around me but by what happens within me. The test of real faith is not the absence of storms but the stability of peace in the midst of them. God’s peace guards my heart, not my environment.”
‘We are receiving a Kingdom which cannot be moved.’ Hebrews 12:28 ‘Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication… the peace of God will guard your hearts and minds.’ Philippians 4:6–7 ‘Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea.’ Psalm 46:2
The proof of real faith is not calm circumstances but a calm spirit. Faith is anchored inside, not outside.
As my people say, “Àpárò kan ò gà jù kan lọ láyé, àfi èyí tó bá gún orí ẹ̀bẹ̀”, no bird stands taller than another except the one standing on a mound. We all have mounds; none of us are mountains.
Faith Tested, Yet Firm
I told him, “Even when my wife and I waited fifteen years to have a child, we attended no special program, made no vows, and offered no frantic sacrifices. We simply trusted God.”
We didn’t buy one diaper or baby cloth as a ‘contact of faith.’ We believed that God is never late our times are in His hands. When we are due, we are never denied.
I said, “I don’t believe anyone has a special ‘ministry’ of helping people have children. I am a priest and king under Christ. I speak God’s Word over my family. Why would I beg for what I’ve already been given?” ‘My times are in Your hands.’ Psalm 31:15
God knew our address. And in His perfect time. He came through.
The Final Exchange
Frustrated, he said, “I’ve never met anyone so arrogant.”
I smiled and replied, “You haven’t met arrogance; you’ve met assurance. My God did not report me to you.”
“If God is for us, who can be against us?” Romans 8:31
“My sheep hear My voice, and I know them.” John 10:27
At some point, he went silent. I must have worn him out, time and data gone, and every trick in his playbook exhausted. Still, I salute his resilience. I ended the call, not in anger, but in peace.
I’d love to hear your thoughts on this conversation and if you’ve ever had a similar experience, feel free to share it.
Have an INSPIRED week ahead with your family.
