‘Why must we show our pupils love today and always? It has been found that EVERY PROBLEM in adulthood is traceable to LOVE denied in childhood. Likewise every greatness in adulthood is traceable to love sacrificially shown in childhood.’
It is Valentine’s Day. It is not in my character to ask my friends, how are you anytime I get in touch with them through any medium. I operate from the positive perspective that they are fine and doing well because that is my consisitent sub-conscious and conscious and earnest desire for my friends. And I know that God is always faithful to give me the earnest desire of my heart.
It has become my nature and language to begin converstions with phrases like, ‘I am sure you are fine;’ ‘I am persuaded you and the family are doing splendid;’ ‘Sure you had a great weekend.’ It has also become part of me to end my conversations with, ‘have an INSPIRED day, night, week or weekend’ The way my mind works is that I must meet my friends well and I must live them INSPIRED. Our conversation and meeting MUST leave them INSPIRED. So boldly, I end every conversation with the phrase, ‘have an INSPIRED day, night, week or weekend.’ When I use this phrase, all I am saying is that live in the INSPIRATION that our conversation or meeting has wrought, do not let it slip out of your hand, be conscious of it and let it produce for you.
For me the foregoing is the defination of love and I do my best by the grace of God to pratice it daily. The truth is what is the measure of love? Yes, love is beyond feelings. In the reals sense of it love is absolute faith in the good of the other person. It is to believe the best of every human being you come across. A man or a woman of love or in love is mature. He or she relate with people with a very large heart that does not take or dwell on offences but employs empathy to inteprete human interactions, knowing that human foibles or weakenesses are ever present with us.
Love is not a colour. It is a decision to prefer others. It is a conscious war against selfisness. The best colour to wear on Valentne’s Day is the colour selfless service to humanity. I tell you, this is the acceptable and foundational colour of the day. The Holy Writ gave the standard of God’s kind of love, which all of us must thrive to live by whenit says: ‘there is no greater love than this, that a man should lay down his life for his friends.’ The question is how much of our lives are we ready to lay down for our friends? How much of our resources are we ready to lay down for our friends.
Who is a friend? Your friend is best described as your neigbour. Who is your neigbour? It is anyone one to whom you have the capacity to support or influence positively. Your neigbour is the person to whom you have duty of care either imformed by clear conscience towards God or your professional calling.
My dear teachers, your pupils and colleagues are your neigbours. Make up your mind to love them and leave them INSPIRED. I make bold to say that you cannot INSPIRE anyone until to show love convincingly through your deeds. The saying is ever true, ‘no one cares how much you know until they know how much you care.
Why must we show our pupils love today and always? It has been found that EVERY PROBLEM in adulthood is traceable to LOVE denied in childhood. Likewise every greatness in adulthood is traceable to love sacrificially shown in childhood.
Dear friends, we are either part of the solutions or part of the problems in the lives of the children under our care. When we decide to love, even the seemingly unlovable child, we become part of the solutions. On the other hand, when we decide to withold love, we become part of the problem.
Search your conscience today and everyday, are you part of the solutions or part of the problems? Have an INSPIRED Valentine’s Day.
