As a parent or caregiver we will attest to the fact that our precious children’s lives are increasingly intertwined with the digital world.
The distinction between “online” and “offline” that existed for previous generations does not remain for many children today, with the digitisation of so many essential services, children more and more have no choice but to engage with the digital environment as part of their daily lives. Their digital footprints can start even before birth with ultrasound photos and due dates shared on social media.
Giving children the tools to protect themselves against threats on the internet and enable them become more aware of their responsibilities is probably the most effective way of safeguarding them in the digitalized world of today.
