TAINLESSTHAN10MINUTES|EP 27|THE SYSTEM’S APPROACH TO CHILD PROTECTION AND SAFEGUARDING OF CHILDREN IN SCHOOLS.

Child safeguarding is specifically focused on preventative actions to ensure that all children are protected from deliberate or unintentional acts that lead to the risk of or actual harm.

The goal of child safeguarding is to create and maintain a safe culture that is child-focused and community-driven through sustained and meaningful engagement with children, their families, communities and all representatives.

Child Protection is part of Safeguarding practice. Child Protection is the activity that is undertaken to protect children who are likely to suffer harm or already suffering significant harm. Child protection is what is in place to protect children who have already experienced harm, abuse, neglect, sexual exploitation, or have otherwise been harmed.

Safeguarding is to prevent harm; child protection is how we respond to harm! It’s an obligation on all primary and secondary parents to ensure that children are not just safe but feel protected everywhere that are.

When your child is in school, the school is responsible for keeping them safe from harm and abuse. Schools have a general duty of care to their students.
