The S.A.F.E™VILLE Family Comics will be ONE YEAR this month. How time flies!
I find no other title more relevant to debut the series of articles we will share this month, which aim is to reiterate the mission of the S.A.F.E™VILLE Family Comics than that of Major Adewale Ademoyega’s book, ‘WHY WE STRUCK,’ his account of the first Nigerian coup, staged by the January Majors on January 15, 1966.
The coup forever DISRUPTED the social and political landscape of Nigeria for good or for bad, depending on which side of the political ideology divide you pitch your tent.
The mission of the S.A.F.E™VILLE Family Comics is a DISRUPTION of the present social system that is not deliberate about equipping our precious youngsters to play their inevitable roles in the PERSONAL SAFETY and SELF-PROTECTION.
The advent of the S.A.F.E™VILLE Family Comics is our revolutionary launch as a COUNTER-CULTURE against the present sweeping and unchallenged culture, which operating inscription is ‘FOR ENTERTAINMENT CONTENTS TO MAKE SENSE, IT MUST NOT MAKE SENSE.’ It is a deadly culture that has removed POSITIVE VALUE SYSTEM from the soul of entertainment.
We struck with the first edition of the comic on Saturday, March 30, 2019 to DISRUPT the foregoing prevailing but ugly reality, which the majority of the society seems to have accepted as a FAIT ACCOMPLI.
In a world when empathy, kindness, dignity, decency, honour, community, selflessness, stewardship and almost every other noble features of Positive Value System are disappearing into our societal blind spots, our precious youngsters and their families need the S.A.F.E™VILLE Family Comics…THAT IS WHY WE STRUCK!
In a world where evil has first mover advantage in arresting the whole gamut of entertainment, fluidly promoting vanity and corrupting of our precious youngsters sexuality and those who hold the baton of POSITIVE VALUE SYSTEM are caught in the web of playing catch up, we need a counter force, determined to find and explore superior strategies aimed at swinging the ugly tide…THAT IS WHY WE STRUCK!
In a world where private/public and primary/secondary institutions saddled with the responsibility of inculcating POSITIVE VALUE SYSTEM into our precious youngsters have not only dropped the ball but kicks it indiscriminately into the hands of the enemies of the souls of our precious youngsters, scoring social and moral own goals, our precious youngsters and their families need the S.A.F.E™VILLE Family Comics…THAT IS WHY WE STRUCK!
In a world, where VANITY is positioned as a ROLE MODEL, profanity is adumbrated as the norm and reality shows are now reality madness, offending every significant moral sensitivities as Africans to the rousing and rowdy applause of the majority, our precious youngsters and their families need the S.A.F.E™VILLE Family Comics…THAT IS WHY WE STRUCK!
In a world, where Nigerian higher institutions(particularly private) have become higher prisons, offending almost every ethical considerations of personal and academic freedom, necessary for innovation and creativity, our precious youngsters and their families need the S.A.F.E™VILLE Family Comics…THAT IS WHY WE STRUCK!
In a world where sex now translates to mark in colleges and higher institutions and there is no concrete protection for the precious youngsters than for the society, which did not prepare them for sanity but now accuses them of seducing lecturers with their dressing and canvasing same shamelessly as justification for sexual onslaught, our precious youngsters and their families need the S.A.F.E™VILLE Family Comics…THAT IS WHY WE STRUCK!
If the lecturers are their in loco parentis, does a father or mother caught in the act with the daughter or son justify the shameful act, saying my daughter or son seduce me with what she/he wears?
In a world, where in the informed words of Keji Hamilton ‘there is a thriving drug market in every Nigeria campus’ and the solutions that private universities have is punitive and not prevention and restorative and the public universities look the other way, our precious youngsters and their families need the S.A.F.E™VILLE Family Comics…THAT IS WHY WE STRUCK
In a world where truth is lacking and men and women do not take positions anymore but would rather stay safe in the twin enclave of dubious diplomacy and political correctness, defending the indefensible, there must be a voice in the wilderness crying for and enforcing order as a counter-custom and then a counter-culture… THAT IS WHY WE STRUCK!
In a world where yesterday people, who are not in touch with the reality of today, attempt to lead today’s precious children into a future they have not made deliberate efforts to understand and envision, someone in the word of Stephen R. Covey must be ready to shout, ‘wrong jungle’ and point us all in the right direction… THAT IS WHY WE TRUCK!
It is one year already and time waits for no one. We are a moving train of change and we invite you to stand up and be counted for the sake of posterity.
Support the cause of the S.A.F.E™VILLE Family Comics. We will unfold in the days ahead possible areas of partnership.
See you next week as I share another thought on the comics and the impact so far.
