A scammer reportedly used AI to clone a girl’s voice in an attempt to get money from her mother. The scammer pretended that he had kidnapped the 15-year-old using fake audio. It was reported that these scammers often get details of their victims from their public social media accounts.

As primary and secondary parents it is important we seek the appropriate KNOWLEDGE, ATTITUDE and SKILLS needed to ensure the overall protection of our precious children.

It was reported in this case that these scammers usually get the information of their victims from social media accounts. These why it is important that primary and secondary parents put measures in place and also appropriately empower their precious children on how to ensure their personal safety and protection online.

We call on the government and relevant stakeholders to put in place and implement policies targeted towards ensuring the safety of our precious children online.

Secondly primary and secondary parents must be proactive towards ensuring the safety and protection of our precious children whether online or offline and they must also make this a culture for it to effectively work.

Thirdly, it is important that effective measures be put in place by parents to prevent children from having access to social media platforms which are not within their age limit.

Lastly it is mportant that primary and secondary parents place emphasis on equipping their precious children with the necessary soft skills needed for their personal safety and protection.
