There are 24 things, I wish I had known as a tweenager and teenager…One of them is that I wish I had known that being young did not mean I lack the priceless POWER of NO…So as a youngster, I was a YES person…I said YES to everything that came my way and most of them were the bad and the ugly…I grew up as a CITY WITHOUT WALL and with NOT an INCH of RULE OVER MY SPIRIT…’YES’ is a very costly in hands of an untrained young person.
If I had known these things, my life today would have been far more excellent and my mind would have been a more productive entity, planning and building global empires…
You see, one of my greatest regrets in life is that I did not know these things and I cannot turn back the hands of time…
But one of my greatest consolations and comfort today is that I have the privilege and opportunity to share these things with the precious youngsters I come across. My goal is to see that my yesterday ignorance and the sufferings that attended same must become preventive lessons for them as they navigate their ways through the murky waters of an increasingly volatile world. My many errors of childhood must become the pointer to the need for them for find and pursue soundness. My losses to those errors must become their own gains today.
With the priceless benefit of hindsight, I can declare most profoundly that these things I didn’t know couldn’t have been known except someone was deliberate in putting me through.
It is also most painful to me that the reason why I didn’t know these things was not because I was too young to know them but the fact that I was not taught to know them. Those things were not role modelled for me.
Having shared these things with thousands of young people over the years on local and international platforms, with outstanding and transformative results, I am emboldened to share same again at our S.A.F.E™VILLE ONE-DAY Club.
