This is the second part of this conversation and I will be sharing from our Book of Tips. Since I have always shared these stories in small bitesizes, I will share a part and conclude next week by the grace of the Almighty One, who called.

The oversexualized socialization of young people has produced all kinds of perversions, one of which is masturbation. What exactly is masturbation? According to Wikipedia, ‘masturbation is the sexual stimulation of one’s own genitals for sexual arousal or other sexual pleasure, usually to the point of orgasm. The stimulation may involve hands, finger, everyday objects, sex toys such as vibrations or combinations of these.’

How and why is masturbation wrong? I own my body and why can’t I do what I do with it in the corner of my room or in my private space? Why should you or any other person see masturbation as self-harm, when in fact you derive sexual pleasure from the same? In this age and time is it possible to do without masturbation?

Alright, if I choose to do without masturbation, what is the way forward for me? Even if there is a way forward now, is it sustainable?

Now, the general thinking today is that there nothing wrong with masturbation. Many have even argued that there are health benefits to masturbation.

Let me first say quickly I will like to limit my opinion on this matter to how it affects you as a young person. Remember, it is our conclusion that sex is not meant for children. So also are any related engagements. A child is anyone below the age of eighteen years old. We have also explained why we believe that sex is not meant for children. One of the leading reasons is that it is a distraction to them in their pursuit of meaning as young people.

Masturbation is hardly an independent action. It is a culmination of many actions. Musturbation among young people is often an expression of lust and self-indulgence. Lust and self-indulgence is often fueled by exposure to lewd and pornographic materials.
