#HOMILYFROMTHEPEW
Today, November 1, 2026, Pastor Jimmy Odukoya, the Set Man and Senior Pastor of The Fountain of Life Church, Ilupeju, Lagos, introduced Pastor Mo Odukoya to the church as his wife and First Lady of the church.
And I simply rejoice.
Many congratulations will pour in today, and rightly so. Mine comes from a deeply personal place.
I am rejoicing with people I know.
I know this couple personally. I also know them as their attorney. God has granted me the privilege of being part of their story.
I have been a member of The Fountain of Life Church since 18 February 1997 and have served in different capacities.
Just as I served Pastors Taiwo, Bimbo and Nomthi Odukoya under God, in diverse capacities and with consistent loyalty, I have been committed to serving Pastor Jimmy Odukoya since the baton of leadership passed to him in 2023.
I know their integrity. I know their dignity. I know the care they take to do things properly.
So when I say congratulations, it is personal testimony. I know whom I am celebrating.
This morning, Pastor Jimmy declared the month a Month of New Beginnings and preached a profound message before presenting Pastor Mo.
Pastor Mo’s parents were in church, alongside notable leaders in the Body of Christ from across the world. It was a full house.
Pastor Tunde Bakare, whom Pastor Jimmy introduced as his pastor, was also present with Pastor Olayide Bakare, his wife. They spoke blessings, peace and joy over the couple.
Pastor Bakare spoke about the Old Testament, the New Testament and what he called the “Now Testament”: our lives as epistles being read today.
His words brought to mind Paul’s declaration:
“Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men.”
— 2 Corinthians 3:2
I can confidently say that Pastors Jimmy and Mo Odukoya are examples of believers whose lives commend the faith they profess—leaders whose example I am glad to follow.
I followed the service virtually and enjoyed every moment.
I know Pastor Jimmy as a man who loves God, is committed to his purpose and takes his responsibilities seriously.
I know Pastor Mo as a woman full of love, joy and peace. I have seen her kindness, her conduct and the support she gives.
Knowing them gives me great hope for what their ministry together can mean for our church, the wider Body of Christ and the lives they will touch.
And I love new beginnings.
I love genuine love stories built on the foundation of Christ.
That is part of what makes this celebration so personal to me.
New beginnings are also part of my own story.
My life is a testimony to the grace of beginning again: fresh opportunities, renewed hope and the courage to embrace another season.
So I do not only celebrate this new beginning. I relate to it.
For me, one of the joys of being a person of faith is the assurance that there is always room for a new beginning.
I love the way I remember Dr. Mike Murdock putting it: “Breath is proof that there is more to conquer.”
As long as I have breath, I have reason to hope, to take another step and to embrace what God is doing in my life.
Yesterday is gone. Today comes with fresh mercy. The storms and challenges we encounter do not have to be the final word on our lives.
“It is of the LORD’S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.”
— Lamentations 3:22–23
New every morning.
Not once in a lifetime.
Every morning.
If you are longing for a new beginning, may that assurance renew your hope. God’s mercies have not been exhausted.
It is not every Sunday that I must offer an argument or develop a lesson.
Today, my homily is simply congratulations, testimony and joy.
Pastor Jimmy and Pastor Mo, may your home abound in love, peace, companionship and strength.
May you find joy in one another and grace for the responsibilities you share.
May this new beginning bring blessings to you, your families, The Fountain of Life Church and the nations your ministry will touch.
I rejoice with you both because I know you.
